Electromagnetic design

Electromagnetic montage grad 2
Electromagnetics are a critical aspect of actuator performance. The magnetic circuit design along with the materials used are chosen to optimise the required design characteristics. Galvanometers are designed for maximum step response with acceptable levels of rotor resonance and mechanical integrity. Efficiency is also heavily influenced by the magnetic design and choice of materials, bad design results in poor performance with high levels of heat dissipation. Heat dissipation has the knock-on effect of thermal drift, both mechanically and in terms of position detector stability.

  • Linear and rotary motor design.
  • Rotor and motor magnet design.
  • Coil design and winding.
  • Inductive and magnetic position detector design.
  • Bonding of magnetic assemblies.
